FUTURE WORKS PASSIVHAUS, EBBW VALE

Client - United Welsh Housing Association
Project Value - £0.5M
Total Dwellings - 2

These two homes built in Ebbw Vale, South Wales, are designed to achieve exemplary energy use. They were built to show that it is possible to build social housing that meets the demanding Passivhaus standard. Pendragon (Design & Build) were the first UK construction company to build a zero carbon Passivhaus.

The two dwellings use slightly different approaches to achieve Passivhaus standards, with one based around peak heat loads, and the other around annual heat demand. This provides a useful comparison of the approaches, which has not been possible elsewhere. Like other Passivhaus homes, they both have mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, extremely good insulation, airtightness and high performance glazing.

NEW BUILD HOUSE, TREDUNNOCK, USK

Project Value - £1.0M
Total Dwellings - 1

A unique project comprising of one 7 bedroom detached dwelling. The works included site preparation and the construction of the dwelling, along with mechanical and electrical systems. The heating system was the client's choice of a biomass wood pellet fed boiler, which is one of the many sustainable features of the building.

Windows, doors and fabric all exceed Building Regulations, which made for a comfortable internal environment with the added feature of a MVHR system.
